Acupuncture Board of Examiners
- Updates the Definitions as follows:
A. "Acupuncture" means puncturing the skin by thin, solid needles to reach subcutaneous structures, stimulating the needles to produce a positive therapeutic response,
at a distant site, REMOVING NEEDLES and the use ofUSING adjunctive therapies.
B. "TRAUMA" MEANS THE EXPERIENCE OF SIGNIFICANT PSYCHOLOGICAL DISTRESS FOLLOWING ANY TERRIBLE OR LIFE-THREATENING EVENT.
- Reduces our Board from 9 members to 7.
A. This is accomplished by removing one Public Member, one Chiropractor/MD/DO/MDH/Physical Therapist and one Acupuncturist and adding one member which can be either an Acupuncturist or an Acudetox Specialist.
- Removes the requirement that Acudetox specialists operate only in Chemical Dependency Programs but retains the requirement that they be supervised by Licensed Acupuncturists.
A. This also requires that ADS obtain an approved signed consent form from a patient prior to treatment.
- Makes technical changes.
